Cosmetic dentistry offers a range of treatments and procedures that can transform and enhance a person’s smile, boosting self-confidence and improving overall dental aesthetics. If you have specific concerns about your smile, it’s best to book an appointment with us so that we can recommend the most appropriate treatment options for your unique needs.

Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of a person’s teeth, gums, and smile. Unlike traditional dentistry, which primarily focuses on oral health, cosmetic dentistry aims to enhance the aesthetic aspects of a person’s smile.

Cosmetic dental procedures can address a wide range of concerns, including stained or discolored teeth, misaligned teeth, gaps between teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, and even missing teeth. The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to create a positive change in the overall appearance of the teeth and smile, resulting in improved self-confidence and a more attractive smile.

What is Cosmetic DentistryCommon Cosmetic Dental Procedures

Some common cosmetic dental procedures include:

  1. Teeth Whitening: This procedure involves the use of bleaching agents to lighten the colour of stained or discoloured teeth. It can effectively remove surface stains caused by factors like aging, tobacco use, and consumption of certain foods or beverages.
  2. Dental Veneers: Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They can improve the appearance of teeth that are discoloured, chipped, misshapen, or have gaps between them. Veneers provide a natural-looking and durable solution for achieving a flawless smile.
  3. Dental Implants: Implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They serve as a sturdy foundation for dental crowns or bridges, restoring both the function and appearance of the missing teeth.
  4. Dental Crowns: Crowns, also known as caps, are tooth-shaped coverings that are placed over damaged or decayed teeth. They can restore the shape, size, strength, and appearance of the affected teeth, providing long-lasting protection and aesthetic improvement.
  5. Orthodontic Treatment: Orthodontics involves the use of braces or clear aligners to correct misaligned teeth and bite issues. By gradually repositioning the teeth, orthodontic treatment not only enhances the appearance of the smile but also improves overall oral health and function.
  6. Composite Bonding: Bonding is a process in which tooth-coloured resin material is applied and sculpted onto the teeth to improve their shape, colour, or size. It can effectively repair chipped or cracked teeth, fill in gaps, and even cover up stains or discoloration.
  7. Gum Contouring: Also known as gum reshaping or gum lifting, this procedure involves the removal of excess gum tissue to create a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing gum line. It is often performed in cases where the gums appear too prominent or uneven.

It’s important to note that cosmetic dentistry is not solely focused on appearance; many cosmetic procedures also have functional benefits. For example, straightening misaligned teeth through orthodontic treatment not only improves the smile’s aesthetics but also enhances proper biting and chewing functionality.

Great dentist and hygienist, however the waiting room had no wifi (and no signal) which meant I couldn’t work when waiting. When I asked if there was wifi, I was just told ‘no’ by the receptionist. I was going to add a suggestion to the box, but there was no pen.

I have attended this practice for many years and I never fail to be impressed by the quality of the work carried out by both the dentists and the dental hygienists. Procedures are explained clearly and in such a friendly manner. And most importantly despite having some major work carried out on a few occasions I did not feel any pain during, or after, the treatment. I would also like to pont out that the reception staff are so efficient, friendly and most helpful. This is an outstanding dental practice.
